Thank you so much for your interest in our research!
Please note, the recruitment window for this study is now closed.
Reducing the amount of sodium (salt) we eat is a public health priority. However, many Canadians have difficulty reducing their sodium intake. We are conducting a voluntary research study to gain a deeper understanding about how Canadians personally feel about dietary sodium, and about the barriers and drivers that they experience related to their sodium intake.
Educational Resources: Resources to help teacher’s use Foodbot Factory in their classrooms are being created. These lesson plans will expand on the learning objectives in each module of Foodbot Factory and provide teachers with classroom activities and resources to assist them in educating their students about Canada’s Food Guide. Lessons will be available for free on our website – check back soon!
Research: Our team has conducted several research studies to ensure that Foodbot Factory is both fun for kids and helps them learn about healthy eating! Click the link to learn more about our research on Nutrition Education.

What’s involved?
The study we are conducting includes an online video interview over Zoom where we will ask participants about their understanding and feelings about dietary sodium (the use of a video camera is required). The interview facilitator will ask a set of pre-determined questions, and typically the interview will last 45-60 minutes. We will also ask you to fill in a brief questionnaire that takes <5 minutes to complete. We offer all participants a gift card of $30 value as a token of appreciation. This study is funded by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research.
To qualify for this study, you must:
1) be >40 years of age, and
2) live in Canada.
You do not need to be following a low sodium diet to participate!
To protect your personal information we follow strict procedures to ensure your privacy and confidentiality, which have been approved by the Ontario Tech University Research Ethics Board for this study (REB File #16831).
Thank you for considering volunteering your time.
You can email us at nutrition.research@ontariotechu.ca with any questions or to inquire about participation in other studies we will be recruiting for in the near future.
