Context: Foodbot Factory was created to help kids learn about healthy eating in a fun interactive way! The app has also been designed with classrooms in mind and can help teachers fulfill curriculum learning requirements as it teaches kids about Canada’s Food Guide.
App Content: Foodbot Factory contains 5 themed learning modules: Vegetables and Fruit, Whole Grain Foods, Protein Foods (Animal), Protein Foods (Plant) and Drinks. The two main characters, Robbie & Rebecca, are scientists who have created Foodbots that help people make healthy eating choices. With the guidance of the Foodbots and scientists, kids are led on a fun nutrition adventure through each module where they learn about how foods, and the nutrients within them, influence their health and well-being using interactive activities and mini-games.
- Our team of registered dietitians, teachers and game developers created Foodbot Factory - a mobile game designed to teach children in grades 4-6 about healthy eating.
- The content includes guidance from the 2019 Canada's Food Guide.
- Foodbot Factory can be used as a teacher resource or can be played at home.
- The app is easy for kids to pick up and play!
Educational Resources: Resources to help teacher’s use Foodbot Factory in their classrooms are being created. These lesson plans will expand on the learning objectives in each module of Foodbot Factory and provide teachers with classroom activities and resources to assist them in educating their students about Canada’s Food Guide. Lessons will be available for free on our website – check back soon!
